Exploring the World of Kentucky Wines & Bourbons on Derby Day!
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for the “Derby Day: Kentucky Wines & Bourbons” event, and to our gracious host, Karen Willand, for making the day truly special. Your presence and enthusiasm turned this celebration into a memorable experience.

🍷 A Toast to Kentucky’s Finest
We kicked off the day with a delightful Brut Rosé, setting the tone for an afternoon of indulgence. Guests savored a curated selection of Kentucky red and white wines, each sip a tribute to the state’s rich winemaking heritage. Mint Juleps, the quintessential Derby cocktail, added a refreshing touch, while tastings of Kentucky Bourbon offered a deep dive into the region’s storied distilling traditions.
🥪 Culinary Delights
The culinary journey was nothing short of spectacular:
Pimento Bar: A spread of creamy, tangy pimento cheese, a Southern classic.
Benedictine Spread: A cool, cucumber-infused cream cheese dip, invented by Louisville caterer Jennie Carter Benedict in the early 20th century.
Pawpaw Jelly on Biscuits: A nod to Kentucky’s native fruit, offering a unique and sweet contrast.
Kentucky Hot Brown Sandwiches: A decadent open-faced sandwich featuring turkey, bacon, and a rich Mornay sauce.
Kentucky Derby Pie: A sweet finale with its blend of chocolate and walnuts, embodying the spirit of the Derby.

🏇 The 151st Kentucky Derby
The highlight of the day was the live viewing of the 151st Kentucky Derby. Cheers and excitement filled the air as attendees rooted for their chosen horses. Special congratulations to Marietta Bell-Scriber and Karen Horrigan for their astute selections, earning them well-deserved prizes.
🎩 A Day to Remember
The event was a delightful blend of tradition and camaraderie—festive hats, delectable dishes, spirited beverages, and friendly competition. Thank you all for making this Derby Day celebration a resounding success. We look forward to creating more cherished memories together in the future.
