Join Us for the American Wine Society’s 2025 National Tasting Project
Featuring the Wines of Australia 🇦🇺
We’re excited to announce that our chapter will participate in the National Tasting Project (NTP) hosted by the American Wine Society (AWS). Each year, the AWS selects a set of wines from a specific wine region around the world. These wines are then blind-tasted and evaluated by AWS chapters nationwide. The collective results are analyzed and compared with assessments from a professional panel of wine judges — offering a unique and educational perspective on wine evaluation.
This year’s featured region: Australia!
Our chapter has selected eight red and white Australian wines, ranging in price from $25 to $50, for this year’s tasting. These wines represent a diverse array of varietals and styles that showcase the richness and quality of Australian winemaking.
Event Details:
- Date & Time: June 28th @ 7 pm
- Location: Craig & Karen Willand’s home
- Tasting Includes: 1½ oz. pour of each of the eight selected wines
- Kickoff: A short AWS-produced video on professional wine evaluation techniques
Whether you’re a seasoned wine enthusiast or just beginning your journey, this is a fun and informative way to deepen your wine appreciation, refine your tasting skills, and participate in a nationwide tasting project.
Spots are limited, so be sure to RSVP early!
We look forward to seeing you there and sharing this wonderful tasting experience.Â
The National Tasting Project helps American Wine Society members from multiple chapters learn about and taste the same wines and compare their scores using the American Wine Society Wine Evaluation format.
The National Tasting Project (NTP) was started in 1990 by Pam Davey and friends. Its mission was to help calibrate members’ scores with the American Wine Society Judges. The first wines tasted were California Merlots. The program changed over the years and recently included many diverse regions such as Paso Robles (Rhone Rangers), Illyria, Portugal, Sicily and Southern Rhone.
